We do not keep any cakes on hand as every order is individual.Shelley, the owner of Hot Cakes, grew up in a family where great food was always the focal point of any gathering. She was always interested in cooking. After deciding to make a career out of it, she left for Ottawa, followed by London, England to obtain her Grand Diploma from Le Cordon Bleu Paris Cooking School, graduating with honours in the top of her class. She did her apprenticeship in a small hotel near Zurich, Switzerland and then returned for work in Canada. She worked for a few years in Winnipeg and then moved to Vancouver, where she took on the role of Pastry Chef for Rob Feenie of Lumiere, a Relais & Chateau restaurant as well as for some larger hotels. She then returned home, to expand and improve upon her wedding cakes, here in Winnipeg, opening Cakes by Shelley in 2008, moving to Hot Cakes in 2011.
